Confirmation Class Photos
Harold H. Brauer conducted catechismal instructions for mainly young people. It was their preparation for their first communion. Typically, the instructions resulted in a confirmation ceremony each year. These photographs capture the groups for each congregation. The ceremony was part of a special worship service. He also instructed some adult classes, but the confirmation events were less formal and photographs were not always taken.
The preserved photos did not always identify the congregation involved, the photo date, or the names of individual students. They are organized as best as possible. The record of Rev. Brauer’s ministry at each congregation during his career offers an estimate of the dates for the photos.
